Wasting, not wasting.
Co-writing: I sorta gave it up for a lark. It was usually fraught with boring slowfer process that puts my nerves on edge and excruciating parsing of the indivisible. Attempted parsing of what I felt was or should be indivisible anyway. So a good co-write for me happens too fast to become a burden. Blink and you’ll miss it. It’s a holy ghost happening.
“No thanks” to future or past co-writing pseudo-buddy, I don’t want their one or a hundred e-mails telling me of the latest fad in song-smithering that they have fallen in love with and insist we re-edit the entire song we were already tricking around with for two months already with triple bottom alliterations or whatever the faddy fad is this week. Write the damn song! Then write another much faddier one.
Thanks Angela for making this a good process and easy back and forth with the text changes and for not wasting, wasting a song title, on me. Another thing Angela’s name is spelt WELCH, not the Cavan way, so I gotta remember that.
Step 1: Press play on song above and follow along with the lyrics below.
I'm not wasting a song on you. I'm not wasting this song on you There's so much promise yet you never do Kill my cat, screw with me too I'm not wasting, wasting, a whole song on you. [CHORUS] I'm not wasting - this night for you You give me less - than I deserve too Say something stupid - then I might stew I'm not wasting, wasting - this night on you. Wasting wasting - this song on you. It's not hard to figure shit out While you're around I want to hurl in my mouth Break my dishes, go crap on my heart The best place to go is only apart. I’m tired of long talk, all this telling me to I give & gave but you've no class an’ no clue That's over now we’ve done black & done blue I’m not wasting, wasting this song on you. <Co-write from an idea by Angela Welch in Brooklyn.
