So little game, so little fight in dem Dems. But Vote for them anyway.
Democrats have so little game it's deja vu all over again. They are or seem at least unable to fight, unwilling to learn to fight dirty and if they do fight it's embarrassing. Like an old lady complaining in line about the price of something. Is it because the politicians are mostly too old (geriatric leaning) or comfortable with the status quo and they are doing what they knew as boomers, so stuck in the dead past of comity and fairness. It's like they learned to avoid confrontation with the school bullies and now continue fearing the GOP and keeping their heads down is their survival mode.
The Supreme court is obviously gerrymandered and can only produce lopsided monotheistic corporate decisions. So why not say that is the fact, not just a single Dobbs decision. Then go at the problem, put the big boy pants on and pack the court It's a fair repair to fix that objectively crooked seesaw. Why only abortion and the show trials of January 6th? Fluffy talk trials where the Tutti de Capo is never really prosecuted. Why only the 'save us we are drowning' fund raising emails? There has to be more than that or other divisive multiple-identity talk. It's ‘the economy, stupid’ every season in America and money and work are higher on Maslows pyramid than identity politics. Will they never learn? Or is it a purposeful way not to change economics. But they better watch out ‘cause Republicans have evil genius level moves in the area of power, taking it and holding it. While the Dems shout from the bleachers of TV shows and feel good about the loud noise they are making, they win no games. In congress and Government the Democrats play nice, tut-tutting behind net curtains in the fifties while the neighborhood burns. Maybe their house too! They had better learn or lose, cause now they have nutters breaking into their homes and trying to kill them. Wake up Nancy, someones at the door with not even pitch forks but assault weapons.
There's more to a better life than only that mono messaging on abortion. They are getting trounced on adverts and their heads are spinning on inflation and crime and the uselessness of Joe Biden. Even though the right to choose does motivate some, that is not enough of a hot record to be the only tune they play to win an election. Cue Fr Teds fixed raffle disco and the DJs one record - ghost town: this town is coming like a ghost town.
Inflation is a beautiful club and the tyre of fire has been placed on Joe Bidens neck the poor eejit. There's reasonable reasons for inflation to rise. Profit gouging for one. The supply chain issues caused constrictions on the supply curve hence higher prices. Employees want more and want their chance at a good life from their jobs rather than just be wage slaves so they asked for more like Oliver Twist and yes are getting something with one hand and the same corporate hand is picking their pocket by putting up the prices and shrinking the sizes of the food containers. For shame! In studies, 50% of recent inflation is caused by corporate profiteering, so inflation is by design, by plan, built in, not an accident. CEO’s, boards and shareholders want profit and price rises and the GOP can use it to win and give them even more tax breaks. For example and in addition to the pain compounded is the price of petrol/gasoline. Gas prices are controlled by cartels and fossil companies have never made so much.
1 million Americans died on the last GOP watch from COVID. Biden the sleepy head could take credit for slowing that death rate down and the financial cushion during the worst of the pandemic. The Democrats showed they cared and gave mercy to everyone but still 65% of the money given out as COVID welfare went to the already wealthy, corporates and businesses. Personal experience was that I found that CHASE bank made it difficult and actually impossible for me to apply for one of those loans from them. Word is and it seems to be true only the big guys got the heavy ladle. I as Oliver Twist, asking for a PPP loan during the height of the pandemic to save my businesses was rebuffed by the big bank that I had accounts with. Power? I have none, I didn’t matter and it was admin shrugs all around. Similarly these Democrats say vote for me, it matters. S’pose hopefully, but the ‘big guys’ got the big handouts even on their watch. And there's probably lists of reasons why. Had to save restaurants - NYC restaurants are serving dung since the pandemic at outside rat infested troughs, its terrible. Don’t save them, let capitalism eat them until something better food wise arrives. So to conclude and find something that lies somewhere on the continuum between awful and terrible the other GOP option is literally ruinous to my health and welfare. Awful and Terrible the twin pillars of the wounded American dream. Is it really dead, is success for the artist, the music maker and the writer out of reach now?
Democrats come across as scared and frightened of the ultra right-wings massed talking points and they poo their corporately aligned pants rather than warrior it out. It feels like their weak-a-billy role is pre-made, part of the system, built in. The GOP do the corporate oligarchys bidding and the Dems never get the cojones to turn those things back down. Those who do turn up and fight get slammed - AOC (she should be the presidential condidate sometime IMO), Bernie of course has his focus on economics and a few others thankfully. But not enough for every few of them there are the Manchin’s and the Sinema’s as Democrat sell outs and as self-absorbed as any GOP guy or gal. White men and women mostly and more than ready to do what it takes to lather pork on their personal plates from any donor.
Democrats then play defense in elections after election like now as faux right wingers. They are in a bind - they don’t push back on their grand corporate funders and so we see workers rights diminish as Democrats tend to go or be pushed right-wingy into the so called bipartisan center. There is no center, there's right wing ultra right or nothing. And Labor power is abandoned.
So a choice between some kinda fascist ultras and kinda-mostly right wingy Democrats with their sheep coats of identity politics keeping their hack economic priorities hidden. This isn't every democratic pol, but it's enough to make sure we never get nice things. The faux flapping of Democrats fundraising hands adds a gloss of consent drama as if we voters really have a say in anything. Vote as if your life depends on it, well yeah. But what then...Bidens retirement home? We pay too high a price to satisfy oldster politicians' stubborn will and their pride. They rationalize from their rocking chair that ‘it's their turn’ to be president, that Joe Biden or Hilary earned it. And then they are too un-electable or too damn old, or weighed down with monstrous baggage and stuck in a political past of bipartisanship that is dead and worn the fuck out.
So vote Dem cause what's the alternative but don't expect anything to improve seems to be the best that can be hoped for. A break in the torture or a return to the regular economic misery a la GOP until morale improves.
GOP policy is one thing in an election chat and another when they rule. Number one job always is even more tax cuts for the already bloated and to pay for that welfare largesse to the Billionaires and Corporations. You will say bye-bye to your earned social security and wave sayonara to your health care. You have a pre existing condition, life and the GOP are gonna make you pay, to make someone else rich.
Vote anyway, hold your nose and get down to the polls. See if it does make a difference, at least you can do it before you lose that privilege to the whims of their money-archy or oligarchy or kleptocracy. Happy out the ancient Greeks with all these great words they gave us like Democracy and Oligarchy from the Greek meaning government by the few. If you have Social Security coming to you (you earned that) you ought to vote your own pocket and pick Democrat, just saying cause the other rich white old men party are seeing it as a piggy bank for their few real friends.
